Remove [Music] and sound events from subtitles

Strip [Music], (applause) and ♪ lines from a subtitle file while every real caption stays put.

  1. Drop in your subtitle file — auto-captioned downloads are the usual suspect.
  2. “Remove sound events” is already on for you.
  3. Preview the cleaned result and download it.

Straight answers

Which sound events get removed?

Bracketed events like [Music], [Applause], (laughter), ♪-wrapped lyrics, and dozens more — including variants with surrounding words inside the brackets. The report shows exactly how many were removed.

Does the whole cue disappear?

If a cue contains only a sound event, the cue is removed entirely. If dialogue shares the cue with an event — “(applause) Hello there” — only the marker is stripped and the words stay.

Why do auto-captions have this junk in the first place?

Speech recognizers label non-speech audio as bracketed events. Useful for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, noisy for transcripts, blogs, and training data — which is exactly what this tool is for.

Can I keep the events but remove something else?

Yes — every fix is a toggle. Turn off “Remove sound events” and use the other switches (tags, duplicates, overlaps, line breaks) on their own.
